Did you know?
Ontario's coal-free generating capacity is now more than adequate to replace coal — our coal-free generation capacity is 28% greater than the province’s forecast peak day demand for the summer of 2011 and 33% greater than its forecast peak day demand in 2014
Cleaner gas-fired generating stations are often idle while dirty coal plants are used on some of our worst air quality days. Click here to see for yourself.

Continued use of coal to generate electricity until 2014 could mean that Ontarians suffer hundreds of thousands of asthma attacks and other illnesses.
Ontario doesn't need coal to keep the lights on. We can get all the electricity we need from cleaner sources, including natural gas and renewable sources, such as wind and hydro power. We have the power to switch off coal today!
Coal power exports are costing us the air we breathe!
Right now, Ontario Power Generation continues to burn coal to produce power to export to the United States. This may be good for OPG's profits, but it is costing us the air we breathe and affecting the health of our children. Coal plants remain huge sources of air polluting emissions, toxics like lead and mercury, and clmate wrecking greenhouse gases. Coal power exports are a rotten deal for us and our neigbhbours — while we get air polluting emissions, their cleaner generating plants remain idle because they can not compete with coal power imports.
You can help! Send the letter below to Ontario's leaders (Premier Dalton McGuinty, Opposition Leader Tim Hudak, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath, and Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner) urging them to stop coal-fired electricity exports today.
